The Peace Practice

The whole reason for having this big going away party for my brother was to hire a great Phoenix dance band that I recently discovered. I actually saw them when I was at a buddies wedding and later found out that they are the best Arizona wedding reception band around. I did not want to book them for a wedding, and hoped that they did other events too.

When I called to see how much it would cost to have the Phoenix dance band play at the party, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the amount. In fact, I was really thinking that they might not be charging enough, especially with their reputation, of being the best Arizona wedding reception band around.

They were not booked for the evening that I was planning on having the party and so I paid them the deposit that they required and signed a contract for them to perform at my brothers going away party that was to be held at the end of the month. I guess that not too many weddings take place on a Friday night so I got lucky with that. I know that my brother will love them; I am just hoping that everyone else at the party does too.

My two daughters had never tried on footie pajamas, till we moved up north from the deep south. We did not have very many cold nights where we used to live, and so things like footed girls pajamas were not sold in the stores around us. I remember wearing them when I was a kid, but I grew up in Minnesota and winter seemed to last half the year up there.

So, when we moved up north, and the summer started to change to fall and then winter was approaching very quickly, I decided that I better get the girls some warmer pajamas. Every store that I walked into had the footie pajamas. Some had just colored ones, and some that were a bit frillier. I found a few that had frilly lace around the legs and some that had princess pictures all over them.

I got each of them three different ones and they loved all of them. They wanted to wear them immediately but I had to make them wait, since it seemed to be a week of Indian summer that we were having when I bought them. As soon as the weather turned much colder and stayed colder my girls wore them day and night. They do not have to worry about being cold when they have on their footie pajamas.

I was happy to find out that the local cleaning supplies store was closing and going out of business. I have been using an online provider for the past two years and they are always coming in and asking if I need anything from them. I know that they have told most of the other businesses in the building that I do not support the local merchants, but they charge double for their cleaning supplies then the online company that I have been using.

My small catering business does not make tons of money and every penny that I can save helps. I also use the same cheaper web company for all the food service supplies that I use when serving clients at different events. I use paper for everything that I can, paper plates and cups. Also plastic cutlery, if the food will work with it. The prices of the food service supplies that they offer, are really good. Some of the stuff I throw away and it does actually save me time to not have to bring it all back to my store and hand wash it all. I can just finish up, throw things away and then head back to start working on my next job.

Requesting term life insurance rates is much easier today than ever before. In the past, people would have to contact their insurance agent and ask for the rates. The agent would have to put all the information together and get it to the person. This would usually take anywhere from a couple of days, to a couple of weeks.

Today, there are so many more choices, than calling your agent and requesting the term life insurance rates. You can get online and there are several companies that will put together several companies’ rates and several types of insurance, like no medical term life insurance. This type of insurance would not require you to visit the doctor and have a physical, but might cost a little more because of the company not having a complete picture of what kind of health you are in. However, the no medical term life insurance policy is the easiest to sign up for and can take just a matter of hours from the time you find out the rate, till the time you sign on the dotted line.

I am actually requesting term life insurance rates from several online companies and my local agent very soon, to add additional policies to what I already have.

I have been selling old gold coins to the same dealer for years and just learned that he is going out of business at the end of the month. He has found that people are not collecting like they used to, and they are only looking to sell what they have and not buy anymore. When he first started in the business, he says that there were tons of kids who would come in after saving their allowances and purchase old gold coins all the time.

He found that when the gold prices went up, it actually starting hurting his business. People only wanted to be selling gold instead of doing any buying. They were not interested in seeing what this one coin would be worth; they just wanted to know what everything weighed and how much they could get per pound. I am sad to see him closing his store but since he has such a big inventory, he can sell it to a dealer that is in the next town and make some good money there. Selling gold pieces should be easy for him, since he has done it for so long. I just hope that he is able to get at least seventy five percent of their value from selling old gold coins to a dealer that knows he needs the money.
