Pipes and transport :
Monday, December 31st, 2007Pipes have been a major choice of transport for chemicals and other fluid gasses in factories for a major segment of time. Industrial piping is a technology that is pursued by many today. This is a major area in the field of development of industries as more and more methods of piping can be used to connect two industries to two nations.
Pipes are the most convenient and safest way of transporting hazardous chemicals from one point to another. This is because a fluid travels fastest at its free flow through a metal tubing. Pressure valves are present after every equal distance that prevents the pressure from building up and causing damage or leakage in pipes. Also maintenance of pipes is very essential for the maximum performance of the pipes.
The most common problem of the pipes is metal corrosion. This reduces the efficiency of the pipes to transport the fluid as corrosion cause blockage in the pipes and obstructs the flow. Also corrosion would react in unfavorable ways with the fluid in the pipe and this can lead to drastic chemical activities.
As such lot of time and money is spent on corrosion protection of the pipes. If uncared for the pipes have to be changed every third month which would bring about a lot of losses for the company. Hence it is better to adopt anti corrosion methods to keep the pipe safe and working at 100% efficiency.
