The Peace Practice

I do not really write blogs or commentaries like this. However, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for a company that rescued me from what seemed to be a disaster.

Yesterday, I woke up at around six in the morning. As usual, I went straight to the kitchen to make myself some tea. I was just surprised that upon arriving, all I can see is a pool of water and my kitchen stuff floating lie garbage. In my age of fifty, I cannot possibly solve this on my own. So I immediately looked for my yellow pages and looked for a leak repair Tampa Fl. The company I chose, as I have said, turned out to be a life saver. They came into my rescue as fast as they can, and fixed my problem even faster. More than that, they also helped me restore my kitchen back to its normal state. They are really very efficient and sensitive.

I have always been very organized. I think I got it from my Filipina nanny. She would always encourage me to put things back to their original places, especially my toys, my school supplies, etc. She even assigned and labeled certain places in my room, so I may be reminded that this is supposed to be in that area of the room and that is supposed to be in another.

Now, I do not have a nanny anymore, but I still try to be as organized as I can be. One day, I realized that my stuffs are already accumulating, and my storage space is no longer enough. Since I know that my father won’t agree to renovate the house so I can have a bigger room, I thought of another solution, and that is to have a custom closet specifically assembled to serve my storage needs. I made my own design, as I am the one who particularly know what kinds of stuff I am going to put in there, and I was given exactly what I wanted. They even added closet organizers, to further systematize my things. Oh how I love to see a dream coming true before my very eyes.

We rarely see families and group of friends staying outdoors for an afternoon talk or an evening barbeque party these days. In our neighborhood, it was a common site before but it was not anymore. Global warming is just too much. The heat seemed unbearable already. Staying indoors was the in thing to do. We were especially worried that people might just think that outdoor activities were extinct already. It was something unhappy. My father who’s into neighborhood meetings came home one day with a happy suggestion to solve the neighborhood’s problem:  OUTDOOR COOLING SYSTEM might just be the answer for our problem.

At first, it seemed costly. But my father managed to convince neighbors that it would start with my family first then after, if it was good, then everyone will have a choice to follow or not. So, outdoor cooling started with our family first and we were satisfied with the service given by the company that one of our neighbors found online. It was really good that other neighbors followed suit. Since then, our neighborhood enjoyed outdoor activities again.

My father hates the air con in their room, because his body cannot tolerate the cold temperature; as opposed to my mom who enjoys every minute she’s inside there.  Most often than not they argue about it, so my mom will sleep in my room, which is not good. Not that I don’t like her in my room, I’m just too old to have her beside me. And I don’t really trust her with my personal stuff. 

Sunday morning, I called up the heat and air Clearwater Florida office nearby our house and ask them to come over and check our AC’s especially in my parent’s room. My mother loved writing. She just writes about anywhere, at anytime a good idea strikes her mind. Being a retired journalist, writing became a job and a hobby.  She loves outdoors, peace and quiet, with the open sun and sky above her. So, as an addition to her patio, my dad bought her sun umbrellas.

I still loved watching her from the window, as she quietly writes away. There is that unique solitude in her that is beautiful. Whenever she gets to finish a story, she would read it to us and ask us what we think about it. She usually sends it to newspapers that have become fans of her writing.

To date, my mom is already 57 years old and still writing. I still picture her today, writing under those canopies.  I guess she finds happiness as she drifts away in her own world, not be disturbed. Her grandchildren knew she is not to be bothered. But we still watch her pen away those stories by the window.

I don’t want sloppy work and I prefer professionals to handle the job that I have in mind. I’m thinking of having my floors re-installed and I only want the best to work on it. As I browse through their designs I needed a few minutes to decide whether I should settle for hardwood or tile floors. I chose tile floors and gave them the specifics that I have in mind.

I really like people with experience because they do the job flawlessly. I congratulated myself for making the right choice. It is one of the best things that I have thought so far.  Now I can breathe easy and think of future projects that will further improve my home.

Of course, I will only ask the help of professionals when their services would be needed.

My sister’s house is a big Victorian House.  She has a large porch and large yard as well.  The landscaping is perfectly done.  It is a picturesque.  Yet, the only thing that seems to block its beauty is the gates.  It is such a waste to be having such a beautiful house and rich landscape and not let people see. 

One day while my sister and I were sitting in her porch, I suggested she changed her concrete gates to wrought iron gates. She was hesitant at first with the idea.  She was used to having a gate wherein no one sees from the outside.  Added to that is her worries that the gates will not be done and it will just ruin her view.  I then told her about the company that did our gates in the school.  They had done such a good job and their designs are very unique.  For her porch, I suggested Victorian stair railings to match her house.  When I opened the site and let her view the profile of the company and their craftsmanship, she was convinced it may be a good idea.

When the gates are replaced, my sister is so happy she agrees to my suggestion.  According to her, she can now see the outsides of the gates and it makes her look farther more.  The beauty of her house is not hidden anymore.  As for the stairs, it enhances the beauty of her house too.  The company is a word of her mouth when a friend or guests comes in to visit her.

My boss invited our group to have dinner at his house. We’re not sure whether to comply or make excuses not to go. But, since our boss asked us “nicely” we have no choice but to agree. We were surprised when he was the one that prepared dinner for us. I didn’t know that my boss could cook. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed the different delicacies. After the meal he invited us to take a look at his kitchen. It was gorgeous! He said that the kitchen remodeling was done a few days ago by a professional kitchen remodeling contractor that he personally knew.

We thanked him for his hospitality and went home afterwards. On the way back, I kept on thinking if I could get someone to remodel my kitchen. I really liked the design of the kitchen that my boss showed us and wondered what it will be like to have the same kitchen at home. With those thoughts in mind I visited several websites to check the different designs that they offer. I’m determined to give my kitchen a makeover in a few weeks.

The hot summer days are finally here and the only way to get through everyday living is to keep your cool. But what if it gets too hot for comfort? This is when I decided that I should get myself an AC.  I visited the air conditioning Tampa, a company that specializes in AC’s and other cooling systems. They have a lot of options to choose from. I went to their store and asked for the latest and most affordable AC’s that they have in stock. They presented me with the unit and I fell in love with it. I didn’t think twice and I bought it right away. When it was installed, the effect was instant. It was cool and relaxing. A friend happens to visit and asked me where did I get my new AC.
