Controlling a Crane
Monday, November 29th, 2010The crane that we rented from the crane rental Raleigh was positioned on the construction site a few weeks ago. I had an opportunity to see how a crane operator handles a crane. I admired his accuracy and precision whenever he moves the levers that make the crane move. I was almost tempted to ask him to let me “have a go” with the controls even for a few minutes and test things outs, but I know better. I don’t want to be responsible in any accidents that might trouble the workers and cause damage to the construction. My superiors will kill me without a doubt.
The crane operator told me that he has been operating cranes for only two years and was also assigned on a plant relocation Raleigh construction once. Handling cranes is way out of my league and I was glad that I left the controls to his very capable hands. I went around the site supervising the construction and reported everything to my superiors. The construction was expected to be finished in five months. Personally, I think that it will be earlier than that.
